Chair at INSEAD
Roland Berger has established a "Business and Technology" chair at INSEAD, the renowned business school in Fontainebleau near Paris. The chair focuses on researching and teaching the strategic, structural, and process implications of information technology and the Internet for enterprises and society.
The holder of the chair is Prof. Soumitra Dutta. The Indian-born professor has taught at INSEAD since 1989 and has made a name for himself through selected publications on information technology and management. He is a member of the advisory boards of several Internet startups.
Professor Dutta points out that "it's easy to go online, but it's much more difficult to be successful online. My work will show that all individuals in the company organization need to change their way of thinking. If you want to be successful, you have to introduce new processes for new business models and create a flexible organizational structure with no rigid departmental boundaries that stem the flow of information and hold up decisions."
