start.ing 2008
Engineers wanted! For a fourth consecutive year, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants is looking for talents with a background in engineering and related technical disciplines. In a weekend workshop, applicants can take consulting for a test drive.
As part of its 'start.ing 2008' initiative, the consultancy is inviting students from different technical disciplines to the Bavarian capital from June 13 β June 15, 2008 to learn more about the profession while working together to solve a real-life case. What action does an international chemical corporation need to take to stay competitive by meeting challenges such as climate change, urbanization and demographic shifts? The participants of start.ing2008 will deal with these questions and develop strategies with the help of experienced consultants. Candidates will drive away with a range of impressions both from the work on the case study, their interaction with Roland Berger consultants and the BMW driver's training, which complements the program.
As part of small teams with experienced consultants, participants will be able to get a taste of the analytical skills required in strategy consulting. "We developed start.ing because there is a growing need for excellent engineers from different areas with a keen eye for business," says Dirk Reiter, member of Roland Berger's Executive Committee. "Detailed technical expertise is often the ticket to a full understanding of a client's issues and the key that can unlock the best possible solution. As such, engineers that combine analytical and technical expertise are just the people we are looking for here at Roland Berger."

The workshop is open to students from Germany, Austria and Switzerland who have completed their fourth semester as well as to recent graduates, doctoral candidates and young professionals with an engineering background and two years of practical experience. Participants will be selected based on the strength of their academic performance and their practical knowledge, preferably acquired in a business context.
Applications for the workshop must be submitted by May 25, 2008. The start.ing website offers a full overview of the program and application procedure.
